Study for Tuesday February 19
Thanks to Lydia for organizing Tuesday's service activity and for those that came. What a great night! Can't wait to share with everyone on Tuesday. If anyone wants to post some comments up about your experience please do.
Here are the verses for next week's study and some questions to think about as you go through the readings that we will discuss. Lydia, Carmel, & Jess are up for providing dinner. See you at Em's place at 7 p.m.!
Matthew 3:13 - 17 Luke 3:21 John 1: 32-34
What was the importance of baptism throughout scripture?
What was the significance of Jesus' baptism? Why was it necessary? Where else do we see Jesus refer to baptism?
Matthew 4:1-11 Luke 4: 1-13
What is happening here? Why do you think Jesus was faced with these temptations by Satan?
How does Jesus respond?
Have you ever come off a high with God and felt under attack by Satan soon after? Perhaps after feeling called to a specific ministry or relationship or job? Have you felt spiritually disconnected? Not fed? Why do you think Satan chooses these times to tempt or attack us?
What do we need to be careful of in ministry when serving others? What are some temptations we may face to deter us from actively participating in serving God's kingdom?

Service Opp. #1
It was great to see those of you who were there on Tuesday evening, and for those who could not make it, we definitely missed you!
So, here are the details for the service project next Tuesday:
We will be spending time with some lovely elderlies at the Stoddard Baptist (Nursing) Home located at 1818 Newton St. NW.
Our group will meet at the Cleveland Park Metro Station (Red line) at 6:50-6:55 to load up into the three cars (Jess and Laura, Skye, and mine) to drive the 5 minutes to the home.
For those of you that can make it earlier, there was mention of grabbing dinner at California Tortilla, I think Skye will be heading that up. :)
We are planning on making Valentine's Day cards with the residents, so get ready to be creative. :)
Thank you in advance to those of you who are coming next week, we are so excited to serve with you all!

Week of Justice Schedule

Wednesday, August 01, 2007
How is it August already?

Although I missed you girls this week, I have to say that the family vacation in Florida was much needed. It was great to get out of DC for a few days and I've accepted the fact that I am in a long distance relationship with the beach and, although it was hard to say goodbye, I'm happy to be back in DC. And yes those are my chubby feet, not my 4 year old niece's!
Okay so here's what's going on this week:
WEEK OF JUSTICE!
Come out to Ebz this Sunday for the kick off of Week of Justice. The team I went to Kenya with will be starting off the week sharing about our experience. You will also learn about ways you can get involved in missions and how you can use the resources God has given you to bless others. So, if you aren't tired of hearing me talk about Kenya yet, come out and listen to me talk about it some more Sunday night starting at 6p.m. If I can find the final schedule of the other events going on each night next week then I'll post them for you. Or if someone else has it please post.
30,000 STEPS for $30,000
Check out how you can help raise money for the Uganda trip that Carmel is going on! Here is the link :http://theaterchurch.com/30k/
SCREEN ON THE GREEN
Monday, August 6 - Bring a picnic, a blanket, & a frisbee and come out to see "All the Kings Men" playing on the lawn inbetween the Capitol Bldg. & the Wash. Monument. The movie starts at sundown but plan to get there early for a spot. I'll head down after work and throw the frisbee with whoever wants to run around before the movie!
Anything else?
