Looking forward to seeing you all tonight and recapping our semester study. I pulled out a few of my favorite verses from James. Feel free to add yours as well.
1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
1:25 "But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does."
2:5 "Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?"
3:9 - 11 "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?"
3: 13 "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom....3:16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice."
4:2b & 3 "You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures."
4:6a "But he gives us more grace."
4:7 & 8a "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you."
5: 5 "You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter."
5:16 "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. "
